UK Sales Charts: Grand Theft Auto V Smashes All Records, Already 24th Highest Selling Game

As if you couldn’t guess this would happen what with its $800 million in one day and over $1 billion in three days, Grand Theft Auto V finished first in the UK sales charts, destroying all previous records to become the fastest selling game ever.

After just five days on the market, Grand Theft Auto V has already become the 24th highest selling game in the UK (11th on Xbox 360, 10th on PS3), while also selling more in its launch week than every other GTA game combined, and 2.4 times more than that of Grand Theft Auto IV. As well, it sold over 250,000 copies more than Call of Duty: Black Ops’ 2 million or so, meaning that GTA V sold roughly 2.5 million, with 57% of that on Xbox 360 and 43% on PS3.

Although GTA V accounted for 89% of all sales in the UK, there were other games, with PES 2014 finishing in 2nd place and The Last of Us (up 536%) jumping all the way to third thanks to some hardware bundles. In all, the remaining 9 games in the UK top 10 represented 4% of the overall total sold.

Here’s the top 10 selling games in the UK for the week ending September 21st, 2013:
